My Reflection In Thailand

September 30, 2019

Sawadee Kha...

Thailand is known as the land of a thousand smiles. Well, I think that's very true. His hospitality welcomed us and provided excellent facilities for us. I remember when I first came here I was picked up by a teacher and friend with a very familial relationship. we were given a place to stay in the guesthouse comfortably.
In the morning we were welcomed by the university at the opening ceremony. we were very warmly introduced by the school principal and teachers. not only that, but we were also welcomed with a very beautiful traditional Thai dance. After that, we were introduced to Thai food and places around VRU until evening.
the next day we were introduced to the school environment we were going to teach. after that, we discussed with Miss Nina and Miss Nit in the library to determine the class. finally, I taught in class 10 or mathayom 4. then we waited for the schedule to be able to start observations. We met teacher Adam, he was the coordinator at this school who took care of us all from the beginning to the end of our school. I am very grateful to him for helping us here.
Our first week of school was filled with observations. I observed in grade 10 to grade 12, especially in physics class. there I met the Paint teacher. a physics teacher in grade 10 who was very kind to me, helped me in everything in class. when observing he explained to me what he taught because I did not understand Thai. in the second week I was still with teacher paint, I became his assistant in teaching. I prepared a lesson plan and he corrected it. this week we first collaborated as a teacher. I am very happy because he is very cooperative and enthusiastic student. the third week I practice teaching. teacher paint helped me prepare the media and condition the class. last week he also helped me greatly in the assessment. He helped prepare the media, gave advice, and supported me. not only that, but he also helped me in my research at school. I am very grateful met Teacher Paint. thanks and thanks that I can say to the teacher.
I also don't forget to thank the mentor, Mrs. Maria, who gave me a lot of input during the assessment. my cheerful friend, Mile. I am very happy to meet everyone in Thailand. I hope someday I can come to visit again.

6. Summary and Suggestions

Purposes of Practicum
“Revitalizing Teacher Education”  is one of the priority areas in achieving quality education for the region. In order to fulfill this mandate, The SEAMEO secretariat has initiated a project titled SEA – Teacher Project. The SEA Teacher Project or the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia is a project that aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.
Specially, the aims of The SEA – Teacher Project are :
to enable pre-service student teachers to develop their teaching skills and pedagogy
to encourage the pre-service student teacher, to practice their English skills,
to allow the pre-service student teachers to gain a teaching abilities and a broad view of education according to the subject.

I also have the same goals as this program, yeay.

Procedures of Practicum
The program period that I applied for was one month, which began on 4 August 2019 until 1 September 2019. One month is divided into several week's activities include observation, teaching assistant, teaching practice, evaluation and reflection. The host universities will provide mentors to supervise and monitor the student teacher throughout the practicum period. Schools where practicum provides co-operating teaching to guide pre-service teachers in practicums in schools. But before that, in Indonesia I also had procedures, which were to make a selection, there are teaching videos and interviews. Next, was an interview from Thailand and a training blog. Also, some briefing such as microteaching in English.

Outcomes of Practicum
The outcomes of this practicum program that I get are :
Get a lot of knowledge, especially physics, and how to teach and the media. Open my horizons about the international world, especially in education Give me the opportunity to increase my English skills Know and can apply good Thai culture. For example the teacher who respects his teacher very much. Wow, very good

The Challenges of Practicum
While joining this program I found challenges in the language of the language they're often used Thai in every condition. They often talk to me using Thai and I just say "what are you talking about?, sorry I don't understand". Likewise, when in class, I am very grateful because teachers often help me translate what they mean and what I mean to them. Many times I also use the help of google translate to help me communicate.

Overall Impression
Regarding impressions of this program, honestly, I am very speechless. I am very grateful to participate in this program many things that I can both experience and science. About my memory in Thailand, can be seen in my diary!. One word for this program's impression is "Amazing!!

Suggestion for Future Improvement
I hope some other countries can also join this program. Indicators, assessments, program indicators, and schedules can be more detailed. Behind it all, this program is very good, yay.. Thankyou everyone..
